The U.S. team retains the Davis Cup. Belgian racer Eddy Merckx wins the Tour de France. The Boston Celtics beat the Los Angeles Lakers to capture the National Basketball Association Championship. A horse named Majestic Prince, ridden by jockey W. Hartack, wins the Kentucky Derby. This is the fifth time jockey Hartack rides the winning horse. |
