The Los Angeles Dodgers defeat the New York Yankees in four straight games to win baseball´s World Series. The Bears beat the Giants 14-10 to capture the National Football League title. Baseball great Willie Mays signs a one-year, $100,000 contract with the Giants. The Boston Celtics beat the Los Angeles Lakers in basketball to capture the National Basketball Association title. Jacques Anquetil wins the Tour de France for the fourth time. A horse named Chateaugay pulls ahead to win the Kentucky Derby. The winning jockey is B. Baeza. |
